James Holland

James is a First Contact Physiotherapist (FCP) working for Viaduct Care in Stockport, who received a silver award for his work in improving diagnostic delay, as a Champion in Primary Care through delivering education, developing triage tools and building links into secondary care.

  • He developed a new primary care triage tool within his organisation to proactively identify and assess axial SpA patients utilising ASAS criteria. He has shared this with all FCPs in Stockport and all other NASS Champions in Primary Care.
  • He developed a short educational video on how to identify and refer suspected axial SpA for FCPs, rolling this out across Stockport FCP learning sessions.
  • He has built relationships with the Rheumatology team at Stepping Hill hospital and agreed local referral criteria, which was built into the triage tool.
