Martin Howorth

Introduction to Martin:

Martin has been a working the Ministry of Defence, for the last 11 years, as a specialist musculoskeletal physiotherapist in primary care. He previously worked for the local NHS trust and privately since qualifying in 2004. Martin is a JEMS® certified practitioner and has been supporting other health professionals undertaking this professional education pathway, as a learning mentor for the last 5 years.

Martin loves all sport, the outdoors and with the lure of the Southcoast, can often be found on his paddleboard bobbing around the Solent.

Why Martin wants to be a NASS champion:

Martin has joined the champions in primary care programme to challenge himself to get beyond a purely clinical role and hopes to utilise  his passion for quality healthcare delivery to improve the lived experience of people living with axial spondyloarthitis within the healthcare system.

 

What Martin hopes to achieve from the programme:

“I am striving to improve the experience for patients living with the symptoms of Spondyloathropathy (including axial SpA, Ankylosing Spondylitis or AxSpA). I would like to raise awareness in primary care, positively influencing beliefs within the population about the disease, whilst personally developing my confidence in the managerial, quality improvement and service development challenges associated with the programme.”
