Are you an axial SpA Changemaker?

As part of the Act on Axial SpA campaign, NASS has a created a brand new award to recognise the great work that health care professionals are doing to reduce the time to diagnosis.

What are we looking for and who can apply?

Our aim is to encourage as many health care professionals to join us by undertaking a series of actions to ensure that every person with axial SpA is diagnosed withing a year of symptom onset.  These awards are open to any health care professional working with people with axial SpA, in the NHS or in private practice.

What is the criteria?

NASS has developed a set of criteria that we think is achievable based on the Act on Axial SpA: Gold Standard time to Diagnosis work. There are four awards:

  • Bronze: Engagement
  • Silver: Active Participation
  • Gold: Leadership
  • Platinum: Sustainable Achievement

Each award sets out a list of criteria to demonstrate achievement. You don’t have to achieve every one of the criteria within each category, but there are three compulsory elements, and then you can choose three others from the list from any category or a combination.

How do I apply

Click on the link for award level you are applying for and  download the application form. You will be asked to submit evidence on how you have met the three compulsory elements and three additional elements, which can be back dated to June 2021 when the campaign launched.

Email the completed form and your supporting evidence to clareclark@nass.co.uk

You can apply for any level but if applying for Silver or Gold you need to evidence in your application the requirements for the preceding levels (e.g. Bronze) as well.

These are individual awards but Teams can submit the same evidence.

Healthcare professionals can also be nominated for an award.

Where can I find materials to help me with the criteria?

We have a range of materials on the Act on Axial SpA website which can help you https://www.actonaxialspa.com/peer-to-peer-network-and-hcp-toolkit/

What will my award be, where and when will I receive it?

The award will be a pin badge along with a certificate. The first round of awards will be presented at an event in the Palace of Westminster on 12th December 2023.

What is the closing date for applications?

The first round has now closed with applications reviewed ahead of the parliamentary event. We will be planning the second round in the new year and will communicate when the next round opens for applications. In the meantime please email clareclark@nass.co.uk if you want to prepare for a future application. We are happy to support you through this process.

If you have any queries about the awards, email Clare Clark, Senior Partnerships and Engagement Officer clareclark@nass.co.uk
